EQ: What are the different modeling methods used by engineers, (hint: one is mathematical modeling). Also what is the proportion method and how do engineers and designers use it?
As previously mentioned in class, the proportion method is used very often to solve for unknown quantities where some data is available.
Take for example this technical drawing of the Mercury Redstone Rocket - the vehicle that was used to launch the first American (Alan Shepard) into space:
